Steward's Night Off
Pearland, TX - February 17, 2014 It was the Steward's night to relax at C.F. Spencer Lodge Monday night, as members of John Wayne Chapter prepared and served a wonderful spaghetti dinner for the members of the Lodge. It was also the official visit to the Lodge of R.W. Chris Little, DDGM of Masonic District 31-A (who we know better as Dad Little). Spaghetti chefs attending were Galen Mikel, Tim Lane II, Jimmy Frick, Tony Peebler, Ted Frick, and Chris Little. We would like to once again thank W.M. Bo Fabor, the Wardens and Brethren of C.F. Spencer Lodge #1384 in Pearland for their continuing and generous support.
DeMolay Month Proclaimed

Alvin, TX - March 8, 2014. One DeMolay and one of our Chapter Duchesses along with three parents showed up to Resoft Park Saturday between Alvin and Pearland for the Family Picnic. Despite the rather cool weather, a fun and relaxing time was had by all.
John Wayne Takes 3 Banners At Frank Marshall Championship Tournament
Arlington, TX - March 30, 2014 Thirteen members of John Wayne Chapter traveled to Arlington and Fort Worth, Texas this past weekend to compete in the Frank Marshall Championship Tournament, and compete they did! The 4th Section Team, led by Tony Peebler reclaimed the Championship Level Championship Banner that they first won back in 2012 before losing it in 2013. Tony also earned honors as Best Part Master Councilor 4th Section for the second year in a row. Tim Lane II, Chris Little, and Jimmy Frick also competed in best part competitions for Orator, Jacques DeMolay, and Junior Inquisitor, respectively. Unfortunately, the fell ever so short in their quests, but are ready to try again next time. The Chapter also competed in the Championship Level DeMolay Degree, earning Salutatorian honors after falling a mere 18 points short of Excalibur Chapter, who won the Championship banner. John Wayne also fielded a Chapter Proficiency team, led by John Cherry III, that won the Open Level Championship Banner for the very first time, nudging out Grand Prairie Chapter. In addition, Tony Peebler brought home the Open Level Mag 7 Championship Banner for the second year in a row, first winning it in 2013. One of our newest members, Jae Fulcher was awarded his Obligations Medal for proficiency in the obligations for first year members, and missed first place by only 3 mistakes. Colin Lamb competed in the Flower Talk Senior Division, while younger brother Caleb made a very nice presentation in the Individual Ceremony of Light junior division. Every member came away with fond memories and at least one medal. All told, the Chapter earned 3 banners, 32 medals, and tons of invaluable experience. They also created an awesome DeMolay sign at Freebirds in Arlington. Members attending were John Cherry III, Ted Frick, Colin Lamb, Joel Fulcher IV, Chris Little, Tony Peebler, Earl DeShazer, Caleb Lamb, Galen Mikel, Lawson Godinez, and Jimmy Frick.
C.F. Spencer Lodge Cooks For John Wayne Chapter
Alvin, TX - April 2, 2014 Several members of C.F. Spencer Lodge in Pearland came over to Alvin before the stated meeting to cook hamburgers for the membership of John Wayne Chapter. The hamburgers were awesome and everyone had a great time. Thanks to C.F. Spencer Lodge Worshipful Master Bo Faber and his officers for organizing this great meal.
Ted Frick Installed As
Master Councilor
Alvin, TX - May 17, 2014 Ted Frick and his officer corps took charge of the Chapter for the Fall/Summer 2014 Term, after being duly installed in an open ceremony Saturday evening. There was a large crowd on hand that included the Texas State Master Councilor, Joey McAteer, and Texas State Sweetheart, Shelby Wall. Ted is the son of Denise Hahn, and the younger brother of John Wayne PMC, Jimmy Frick. He is also a Charter Member of the William A. Dixon, Jr., Squire Manor #3 Order of the Squires of the Round Table, and was elected as the very first Master Squire of that Manor back in 2010. Ted crossed over to DeMolay and received both degrees shortly after his twelfth birthday, and has never looked back. He has been very active with the Chapter, serving on several committees to ensure the success of the Chapter. Other officers installed were Senior Councilor Colin Lamb, Junior Coucilor Caleb Lamb, Senior Deacon Jae Fulcher, Junior Deacon Earl DeShazer, Senior Steward Galen Mikel, Junior Steward Lawson Godinez, Scribe John Cherry III, Chaplain Pedro Garcia, Jr., Marshal Brennen Strain, Standard Bearer Jimmy Frick, and Sentinel Tim Lane II. The installing officers were members of the San Jacinto Area Priory Installation Team, Installing Officer Tony Peebler, Installing Senior Councilor Christopher "Boomer" Sharpless, Installing Junior Councilor Chris Little, Installing Marshal Andy Nitsch, Installing Chaplain Galen Mikel, and Installing Senior Deacon Tim Lane II. We are looking forward to an exciting term with Brother Frick and his officer corps at the helm.
John Wayne Holds Joint Initiation With Pasadena
Alvin, TX - May 21, 2014 Five new DeMolays received both of their degrees Wednesday night during a joint Initiation by Pasadena and John Wayne Chapters. Four of the new members joined John Wayne Chapter. They are Robert DeShazer, James Hobbs, Mark Anthony, and Travis Anthony. Thanks to everyone who participated to make these two excellent degrees a memorable experience for our new members.

Alvin, TX - June 4, 2014 The Chapter held a special Parent's Night Ceremony where flowers were presented to all parents (both Moms & Dads) in honor of filial love. We also celebrated our 3 graduating seniors, though one of them was unable to attend. Chris Little '14 graduated is graduating from Alvin High School, Jimmy Frick '14 is graduating from Dawson High School in Pearland, and Tim Lane II '14 is graduating from Santa Fe High School. Congratulations to these young men as they start a new life. What a great night.

Alvin, TX - June 13, 2014 Four members of the Chapter made it out to the annual Alvin-Manvel Relay for Life this year. The members present were Ted Frick, Galen Mikel, Chris Little, and Pedro Garcia, Jr.

Chapter of the Year
Austin, TX - July 21, 2014 Eleven members of the Chapter along with our Chapter Sweetheart and all three members of her Duchess Court, traveled to Austin for the 85th Annual DeMolay Conclave. While not all of the results were in our favor, John Wayne made an impressive showing. For the second year in a row, our DeMolay Degree Team won the State Championship. In addition, our Initiatory Degree Team also won the Championship for the first time ever. While our Chapter Proficiency Team fell somewhat short, our 4th Section Team earned a Co-Championship with Malvern H. Marks Chapter. It is the 4th year in a row that our 4th Section Team has won the Championship. In sports, we won two games in flag football before falling to Grand Prairie in the Championship Game. We also came in second in softball, Senior Dodgeball, Junior Dodgeball, Senior Basketball, and Junior Basketball. Our Junior Basketball Team lost in the Championship round to Grand Prairie, but not before taking it down to the buzzer in overtime with a hard fought loss 28-30. In individual ritual competition, Chris Little won the best part, Jacques DeMolay. Ted Frick won best part Master Councilor Chapter Proficiency. Tony Peebler won best part for Master Inquisitor. Tony also won Flower Talk for the 3rd year in a row, Master Councilor Initiatory Degree for the 5th year in a row, and Magnificient 7 for the first time ever. Galen Mikel won 3rd Preceptor, Ted Frick won 2nd and 5th Preceptors. Our wonderful Chapter Sweetheart, Sheaylnn Goodwin, fell slightly short in her bid for State Sweetheart, but represented the Chapter very well.

Austin, TX - July 21, 2014 John Wayne Chapter furnished the Great State of Texas with three State Officers this year. Tony Peebler was elected to serve as the 73rd Deputy State Master Councilor of Texas. Chris Little was elected to serve as the 39th Senior Councilor of Texas, and Christopher Sharpless was elected to serve as District Deputy State Master Councilor for District 5. Congratulations to all three of you. We know that you will represent John Wayne and Texas very well.

Three New Members
Alvin, TX - August 16, 2014 John Wayne Chapter conferred both degrees today on the three newest members of the Chapter. Receiving both degrees today were Jake Martindale, Daniel Hand, and Antonio Sifuentes. Degree team members included Lawson Godinez, Galen Mikel, Chris Little, Brennen Strain, Tony Peebler, Caleb Lamb, Ted Frick, Colin Lamb, and Boomer Sharpless. Thanks to everyone for coming out and sharing DeMolay.
Chevalier Investiture
Alvin, TX - September 20, 2014 Three members of John Wayne Chapter and one member of the Advisory Council were invested Saturday afternoon with the Degree of Chevalier. The new Chevaliers are Tony Peebler, Christopher Little, Galen Mikel, and Mark A. Peebler. The three active DeMolay Chevaliers have been with the Chapter since 2009-2010, are all PMC-MSA's, are all Representative DeMolays, and each have attended over 90% of the Chapter events over the last 4-5 years. Dad Peebler was an active DeMolay in Galveston Chapter back in the 1970's and is a PMC. He has been the Chapter Advisor for John Wayne Chapter since the summer of 2009. A fairly large crowd was on hand to witness the Investiture and and enjoy a Texas Style BBQ afterwords. The Investiture team was led by the State Commander in the East of the Texas Court of Chevaliers, Vince Colello, Commander in the West and past Texas State Master Councilor, Joey McAteer, who is also a Region 6 Cabinet Member for DeMolay International, Commander in the South, Tony Uzzel, who is a past Texas State Master Councilor and Past State Illustrious Knight Commander Texas Priory, Grand Marshal, Dad Curtis Waldrop, and Chaplain, Wesley Wunsche, who is also a Past Texas State Master Councilor and Past International Congress Secretary of DeMolay International. Also in attendance were State Master Councilor, John Parker and Texas State Sweetheart, Jessica Lindquist.

Chapter Sports New Robes
Alvin, TX - November 15, 2014 Colin Lamb and his officer corps for the Spring 2015 Term were installed this evening by the San Jacinto Priory Installation Team. Colin is a Junior at Santa Fe High School, and a member of the varsity baseball and football teams. He is the son of Steve and Paula Lamb of Santa Fe, TX. Other officers installed were Colin's brother Caleb as Senior Councilor, Junior Councilor Joel (Jae) Fulcher IV, Senior Deacon Earl DeShazer, Junior Deacon Robert DeShazer, Chaplain Pedro Garcia, and Scribe Ted Frick. A large crowd was on hand to witness the installation, the first in the Chapter's brand new robes. The San Jacinto Priory Installation Team was led by Installing Officer Tony Peebler, Installing Senior Councilor Christopher Sharpless, Installing Junior Councilor Christopher Little, Installing Marshal Galen Mikel, and Installing Chaplain Wesley Wunsche. During the installation Claire Peebler was crowned as the new Chapter Sweetheart and Briana Godinez was presented as the new Chapter Duchess.

Dixon Squire Manor #3
Alvin, TX - November 15, 2014 Peter Luke and his corps of officers were installed Saturday evening to serve the Manor for the Spring 2015 Term. Other officers installed were Past Master Squire Andrew Luke and Senior Squire Colin Hare. The Squires are led by Advisor Mom Luke, who has been the Manor Advisor since late 2011. Squires prepares boys to become DeMolays and young men, and currently accepts membership from the ages of 7-12.
Peebles Receives
Legion of Honor
Alvin, TX - November 15, 2014 The Houston Preceptory of the Legion of Honor held an investiture at John Wayne Chapter just before their installation of officers. The honorees of the investiture were John Wayne Advisor Thomas Peeblers, who received the Active Legion of Honor, and Butch Giles, who received the Honorary Legion of Honor. The Dad Ken Fischer from Pasadena conducted the investiture along with his investiture team from the Houston Preceptory. The preceptor parts were all filled by John Wayne Chapter members. Dad "Tommy" Peebles was initiated into Alvin Chapter Order of DeMolay in the late 1950's and was master councilor of that chapter in 1964. He was later honored with the Chevalier. Dad Peebles recently retired as the City Clerk of Alvin, after serving faithfully for 40 years. He has also served Grace Episcopal Church in Alvin as Senior Warden. Dad Peebles has been a member of the John Wayne Advisory Council since the Chapter moved to Alvin in 2009.

Alvin, TX December 20, 2014 Several members of the chapter along with our Chapter Sweetheart and another Rainbow Girl filled a local retirement center with wonderful sounds of the Christmas season as they sang traditional carols to those assembled. Everyone had a great time, and were in great spirits to attend the chapter Christmas party, which followed immediately back at Alvin Lodge. There, the chapter enjoyed a wonderful pot luck feast with turkey provide by Paula Lamb, and a variety of other dishes from each family attending. The evening was topped off by a "White Elephant" gift exchange that was a whole lot of fun.
