He grew up in Alvin, Texas and was an active member of Alvin Chapter Order of DeMolay when he was killed. 
He was a member of H&S Company, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Amphibious Corps (III MAF) serving in the I Corps area in 1967.  He is listed on Panel 21E line O11 of the Vietnam Wall Memorial, and he is buried in the Alvin Confederate Cemetery.
